Classroom Discipline Policy

Your child deserves the most positive educational climate possible for academic growth.  A good learning atmosphere is one in which a child is free to learn without distraction and a high level of noise. To help reach this goal, we have developed the following discipline policy.

Our Classroom Rules:

  • Listen to the teacher and follow directions the first time they are given

  • Take turns listening, and raise your hand to speak or get out of your seat

  • Use your quiet voice in the classroom and save your big voice for outside

  • Never hurt anyone on the inside or outside

  • Take good care of everyone’s things and put them away when you are done

Class Dojo:

We will be using Class Dojo as a positive reinforcement tool school-wide. Students will be receiving Dojo points throughout the day in the classroom, special areas, and the cafeteria. These points will be used to earn rewards in the classroom.

Rewards:

Students can also receive rewards when caught doing the right things without being asked, following rules, etc. Rewards include verbal praise, stickers, trips to the treat jar, brag notes home, and lunch with the teacher.

Consequences:

Every student will begin each day on a clean slate. One warning and/or reminder will be given with no consequences. Following the first warning, the student will receive a check each time a rule is broken. With each check, five minutes of recess will be taken away. When a student reaches four checks, no recess will be given. During recess, the students will sit out and/or walk around the playground until their time has been served.

Other possible consequences include:

  • Removing child from the situation- ex. move from centers back to his/her seat if misbehaving

  • Time-out/break in a buddy teacher’s classroom

**Severe Clause**

In case of severe misbehavior, such as hitting, pushing, willful destruction of property, profanity, willful disobedience, or dangerous behavior, the child will be referred directly to the principal.  The student may be suspended.
